About — Sostenuto

This blog was conceived around a dinner table overflowing with friends and family reveling in wine and conversation. Not a bad way to conceive a blog. We wanted that conversation to keep going, if not with the spoken word, then with the written. The musicians among us thought the word Sostenuto quite fitting for this endeavor. On a musical score, the direction Sostenuto indicates that the musician draw out and sustain a note for emphasis. And isn’t that what writers do? They sustain a view, an idea, a feeling so that others may dwell in it for a while and be enriched. There are poets among us. Science Fiction aficianados, those of us who love fine art and music. We write about it all for each other and perhaps for you, the reader. To share our passion. To receive the passion in return. That is what this blog is about. The sustained passion for beauty captured by the written word.
